Handover Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Handover: Vehicles & Equipment, published by WWRS, handles information. It applies to the Android app with package name com.wwrs.handover.
Your condition records are kept on your device. Handover has no account service, developer-operated record server, advertising, analytics SDK or integrated crash-reporting SDK. Records leave the app when you choose to save, open or share a report or backup. Google Play handles purchases separately.
Information you record
The app stores the information you choose to enter or attach so it can display your history, save drafts, produce reports and create backups. This may include:
- Vehicle and equipment names, registration, fleet, serial or asset numbers.
- People's names and drawn signatures, including a second person's acknowledgement for a two-person record.
- Condition notes, kit item names, quantities and findings, meter readings, fuel or battery levels, accessories and a location or site you type.
- Selected or camera-taken condition photos, captions and links between photos and kit items.
- Record and photo-added times taken from the device clock, and local record identifiers.
Handover does not obtain GPS location or verify people's identities, signatures or photo capture times. Only record and share another person's information when you have an appropriate reason and permission to do so.
Local storage and preferences
Records, attached photo copies and signature strokes are held in the app's private storage on your device. Appearance and guide preferences are also stored locally. A separate local usage history records which records have been completed to administer the two-free-record allowance. Record backups do not include this usage history, appearance preferences or purchase receipts.
There is no automatic Handover cloud sync. The app disables Android automatic cloud backup. Device-manufacturer migration or transfer tools may behave differently, so use Handover's own backup feature when moving your records.
Camera, photos and files
You choose when to take a photo, select an existing photo, open a backup or save a file. Handover uses the camera and system selection or file-sharing features for those actions. It does not need your contacts, microphone or location permission. Attached images may be resized to keep storage manageable; the app does not change the original image in your gallery.
Reports, sharing and backups
PDF reports can contain names, signatures, condition notes, photos and kit findings. Handover ZIP backups contain your assets, drafts, completed records, photos and signatures. The app does not add password protection or encryption to these PDFs or ZIP files.
When you open or share a file, or choose a save destination, that app, recipient or storage provider can access the file you selected. Their handling is governed by their own policies. Check the contents and recipient before sharing, and keep backups in a location you trust.
A restore replaces the current record dataset after you confirm; it does not merge two sets of records. A purchase restores access to paid features, not your record files. Keep a separate backup outside the phone.
Google Play purchases
The first two completed records are free. A one-off Google Play purchase unlocks further record creation. Google processes payment details under its own terms and privacy policy. Handover does not receive your payment-card details.
The app receives purchase information from Google Play to check and restore access. It keeps a Google-signed purchase receipt in private storage, which may contain product and order identifiers, a purchase token, purchase time and purchase state. Verification takes place on the device, and the app checks ownership with Google Play. The app sends the purchase token to Google Play to acknowledge completed purchases. Handover does not upload receipts or your records to a developer-operated server.
Google Play retains purchase information under its own policies. Clearing Handover's storage does not delete your Google Play purchase history. The app's record backups cannot grant or transfer paid access.
Retention and deletion
Saved records remain on your device; completed records are locked against editing in the app. To remove all data held by this installation, use Android Settings to clear Handover's app storage or uninstall the app. Make a backup first if you want to keep your records. We cannot remotely access or erase records held only on your phone.
Exported files and copies held by other apps or recipients are separate. Delete those copies in the relevant file manager, storage service or recipient's system if needed. Temporary report and backup copies may be cleaned up after they are no longer needed; this does not delete the saved records or photos used to recreate a report.
Support and privacy requests
If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you send. We use that information to answer and manage your request. Send only the information needed for support; do not send full record backups unless needed and requested.
Contact wez.wilson@wwrs.co.uk for questions about this policy or requests concerning information you have sent us. Support correspondence is kept only as needed to deal with the request and any applicable obligations. We do not sell your personal information.
Protecting your information
Use a secure device lock and protect exported files. Private app storage helps separate the app's files from ordinary apps, but Handover does not provide a separate app password or promise that files cannot be altered outside the app. A drawn signature is an acknowledgement, not independently verified identity.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app's features or data handling change. The current version will show its update date on this page.
