TruckCheck Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how TruckCheck ("the app") handles information.
Summary
- TruckCheck is designed to work locally on your device.
- We do not run a backend service that stores your inspection records.
- Your inspection records stay on your device unless you export/share them.
- The app may send crash diagnostics to Firebase Crashlytics so we can diagnose and fix production errors.
Information Processed by the App
The app may process the following data you enter:
- vehicle details and checklists;
- defect records and notes;
- optional photos you attach;
- app preferences (such as theme and language).
How Data Is Stored
Data is stored locally on your device. In the current local-only app model, inspection records are not sent to TruckCheck-operated servers.
Crash Diagnostics
TruckCheck uses Firebase Crashlytics, a Google/Firebase crash reporting service, to help detect, diagnose, and fix app crashes. Crash diagnostics may include crash stack traces, relevant app state at the time of a crash, app version, build type, device model, operating system version, network connection type, session quality metrics such as app foreground timing, a Crashlytics installation UUID, and a Firebase installation ID.
We do not intentionally attach vehicle registration numbers, inspection notes, photos, PDF content, driver details, email addresses, or custom user IDs to crash reports.
Permissions
The app may request access to features such as camera or photo/library storage only when needed for app features (for example, attaching defect photos).
Data Sharing
We do not sell personal data. Data leaves your device only when you explicitly choose to export/share it using device or third-party apps, or when crash diagnostics are sent to Firebase Crashlytics for crash reporting. Crash diagnostics are used to monitor app stability, diagnose crashes, and improve reliability, not for advertising.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your data remains on your device until you delete records in the app or uninstall the app. You control retention locally.
Crash diagnostics are retained by Firebase according to Firebase Crashlytics retention practices. Firebase states that Crashlytics keeps crash stack traces, extracted minidump data, and associated identifiers for 90 days before starting the process of removing them from live and backup systems.
Children
The app is not intended for children under 13 (or equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction).
Security
We use reasonable safeguards in app design, but no software can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for securing your device.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your personal data. Since data is kept locally, most requests can be handled directly by deleting data in-app or uninstalling the app.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this page from time to time. The latest version will be posted at this URL with an updated "Last updated" date.
